What’s the Issue?Building Bridges Between Communities and Healthcare

We’re thrilled to launch What’s the Issue?, a new series diving deeper into some of the key topics we explore in our research.

In our first episode, we examine participants' beliefs about health and wellbeing, their experiences accessing healthcare, and their views on trust within the healthcare system.

In the wake of COVID-19 and the world we live in today, mistrust between Black and ethnic minority communities and the healthcare system remains a significant challenge. This mistrust is deeply rooted in history, lived experiences, and the stories we hear from those around us.

That’s why this project set out to understand:

  • Where trust exists between Black and ethnic minority communities and healthcare systems

  • How trust (or mistrust) manifests in personal experiences and why

Our latest episode takes you behind the scenes of this journey, featuring insights from focus group participants, our co-creation group, and digital ethnography contributors. It’s a thought-provoking exploration of trust in healthcare and a call to action to bridge the gaps that leave too many behind.
